Forge1 is the first Raise3D’s printer able to print metal with user-friendly features for a reliable 3D printing experience, making it an excellent option for production and rapid prototyping for small batch metal parts.

Description

Cost-effective Metal Printing Made Possible

MetalFuse offers a complete solution, consisting of an indirect metal 3D printing process, paired with a special edition of ideaMaker compatible with MIM equipment.

With this solution, MetalFuse’s advantages include low overhead costs and the ability to perform batch production. MetalFuse saves more energy and is more environmentally friendly when compared to processes such as CNC and SLM (Selective Laser Melting).

Features

New Technology, A Leap in Efficiency

MetalFuse utilizes the Catalytic Debinding process, which leads to 60% off in processing time, and an increase of the part’s density to up to 97% of wrought iron’s density.

Auto Bed Leveling

Auto bed leveling improves bed adhesion and allows the extruder to adjust to even the most minor of surface contour changes for better final print quality.

Glass Bed

A 3D printer glass bed is arguably the best option when aiming for a flawless print bottom. Not only that, it’s also remarkably easy to remove prints from glass (providing your bed was clean before the print).

MetalFuse

MetalFuse is a series of products consisting of Forge1, S200-C, and D200-E, which together provide a full production solution.  Raise3D and Forward AM – brand of BASF 3D printing solution, collaborated closely throughout the development process to ensure the seamless interaction of the Forge1 and metal filaments.

By using Ultrafuse® 316L and Ultrafuse® 17-4 metal filaments:

  • Forge1 printers yielded high strength green parts allow long-range delivery for the subsequent process.
  • Forge1 printed green parts are widely compatible with MIM industry, thanks to the catalytic debinding technology from BASF since 1990.

Dual-head

Able to print Metal filaments, including Ultrafuse® 316L, Ultrafuse® 17-4PH, and Ultrafuse® Support Layer. The Forge1 3D printer enables printing from BASF Forward AM’s Ultrafuse® Metal materials, which provide better repeatability and efficiency, and enable the production of small batches of metal parts with complete design freedom and low costs.

The BASF Ultrafuse® 17-4PH filament is a hardened chrome-nickel-copper stainless steel with the addition of niobium, which is characterized by high strength and hardness. BASF Ultrafuse® 316L is a chrome-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel that provides enhanced corrosion resistance of the 304 / 304L alloy in moderately corrosive environments.

Software

IdeaMaker Metal

IdeaMaker Metal is a modified version of ideaMaker optimized for the use of Ultrafuse® Metal Filaments, with unique features that provide the required part density and repeatability to create end parts of the highest quality.

IdeaMaker for Metal provides validated metal filament templates which enable easy slicing.

Unlike other FFF printing methods, metal printing requires a debinding and sintering process to obtain the final part. To ensure that the final part matches the intended size, the size of the green parts can be automatically set in the software to account for a certain amount of print shrinkage. This guarantees that the final size after debinding and sintering will be accurate and suitable for use.
