Learn the principles and process of slicing 3D models, then checking, preparing and saving them for 3D printing using manufacturers or open source Cura slicing software.
The following Slicing courses are currently available and can be delivered for up to 10 attendees on site, or at our HQ in Chorley, Lancashire. The half day course can also be delivered remotely over 2 x 1.5hr sessions.

Introduction to Slicing
Duaration: Half Day
Content: A basic practical introduction to the slicing process and slicing software. This is tailored to the manufacturers slicing software for the 3D printer(s) you have purchased from us.
The course includes:
- Setting up the slicing software for your 3D printer
- Slicing software interface overview
- The slicing process
- Slicing fundamentals (i.e. layer height, infill, speed vs quality).
- Importing and manipulating model files.
- Basic slicing settings
- Designing for 3D printing (basic principles i.e. overhangs and bridging).
- Introduction to slicing for dual extrusion
Advanced Slicing
Duaration: Full Day
Content: This practical introduction and slicing skills development course allows you to learn the principles of slicing and develop slicing skills through a series of practical examples. This is tailored to the manufacturers slicing software for the 3D printer(s) you have purchased from us.
The course includes all the content of the half day Introduction to Slicing Course plus:
- Additional hands on practice and examples
- Advanced slicing settings
- Adjusting slicing settings to overcome printing problems
- Further tips and tricks
